Mr. Eric Childers- Principal     echilders@union.k12.sc.us

I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with you and your child this school year! I love the quote "Success is not a destination, it's a journey". I truly believe that we have a wonderful journey ahead of us. If myself or my administrative team can be of assistance to you this year, please let us know.

Mrs. Dena Addis - 6th and 8th Grade Assistant Principal     daddis@union.k12.sc.us

I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Winthrop University in Elementary Education and Special Education. From Converse College, I earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Administration and Supervision. I was trained as a Reading Recovery teacher as well as a Reading Recovery Special Administrator. I served ten years as a Curriculum Coach and State Reading Coach with Union County Schools, including 20 years of teaching experience as a K-12 Special Education Learning Specialist and Second Grade Teacher.

This year I am excited to take on a new role as an Assistant Principal at Sims Middle School. Building relationships is an essential component of a successful school. I firmly believe in the African proverb: It takes a village to raise a child. I believe we must collaborate with community leaders, business partners, churches, and parents in order to foster the needs and responsibility of our children. My goal is to encourage those relationships this year.

Mrs. Amber Comer - 7th and 8th grade Assistant Principal     acomer@union.k12.sc.us

Welcome! I am thrilled to be an Assistant Principal at Sims Middle and cannot wait to begin a year full of excitement and adventure!

I began my career at Fairforest Middle School in Spartanburg, SC where I taught 6th/7th grade English Language Arts for 6 years. I then ventured into administration where I spent 2 years at Union County High School as an Assistant Principal. I am excited to move back into the world of middle school where I established my roots.

My husband, Josh, and I have two children—Elijah (6) and Emery Grace (3). I try to spend as much time as I can with my family, but still enjoy taking a break to read a good book or work on crafts.

Again, I am excited to be a member of the Sims administrative team and hope that you will join us for a year full of learning and adventure!
